Missouri Firm Recalls Turkey That May Contain Metal
WASHINGTON, February 6, 2004 Willow Brook Foods Inc., a Springfield, Mo., firm, is voluntarily recalling approximately 37,000 pounds of smoked white turkey that may contain small pieces of metal, the U.S. Department of Agricultures Food Safety and Inspection Service announced today.
The products subject to recall are cases of WILLOW BROOK FARMS SMOKED WHITE TURKEY, FULLY COOKED BONELESS. Each case weighs approximately 17 pounds.
The cases bear one of the following package codes: Sell or freeze by 04/02/2004; or sell or freeze by 04/03/2004. In addition, the cases also bear the establishment number Est. P-7249A inside the USDA mark of inspection.
The turkey was produced on January 8-9 and distributed to retail establishments nationwide. The recall was initiated after the company received information that metal was discovered in one of its products. FSIS has not received reports of injury. Anyone concerned about an injury from consumption of the products should contact a physician.
Media and consumers with questions regarding the recall may contact Tom Collins, company director of marketing, at 417-862-3612
