CPSC Chairman Ann Brown Announces New General Counsel
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Chairman of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) today announced that Michael Solender will replace Jeffrey Bromme as General Counsel for CPSC as of January 3, 2000."Jeff Bromme has provided this agency with the best possible legal counsel, and has shown excellent judgment during his tenure here," said CPSC Chairman Ann Brown. "He should be proud of the exceptional job he has done of serving this agency and the consumers we are charged with protecting."
Bromme is returning to private practice.
Michael Solender, a partner with Arnold and Porter, and a graduate of Yale Law School, will join CPSC as General Counsel in January 2000. "Mr. Solender will be a strong addition to the agency, and will help us continue to fulfill our mission of preventing deaths and injuries from consumer products. We are fortunate to find someone who meets the high standards set for the Office of General Counsel," Brown said.
Solender joined Arnold and Porter in 1991, and worked on antitrust, securities fraud, professional malpractice, false advertising, bankruptcy and general litigation matters. Before joining Arnold and Porter, Solender served on the Clinton/Gore campaign and transition team, and served as a law clerk for Judge Leonard B. Sand, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. He earned his J.D. from Yale Law School, attended Oxford University, and graduated summa cum laude from Columbia University.
