New Director For CPSC Field Operations Announced
WASHINGTON, D.C. (May 31) -- Edwin F. Tinsworth has been appointed to serve as the Commission's Associate Executive Director for Field Operations. CPSC Chairman Susan B. King announced today.
In this capacity, Tinsworth, 34, will direct and coordinate the activities of the 310 employees in CPSC's 13 area offices and 23 resident posts throughout the nation. He will also supervise the 18-member field coordination staff at the Commission's Washington headquarters.
His responsibilities will include developing and implementing various Commission policies and guidelines, promoting compliance and enforcement of CPSC regulations, and coordinating safety information and public education programs for the area offices. He also will serve as liaison with other product safety officials in federal, state and local governments.
Tinsworth has worked with the Commission since its creation in 1973 and has served in a variety of positions. Prior to his appointment as chief of Field Operations, Tinsworth served for three years as the Assistant Associate Executive Director for Compliance and Enforcement. As a participant in the U.S. Office of Personnel Management's Federal Executive Development Program, Mr. Tinsworth served temporarily as a Special Assistant to the CPSC Chairman and as the Acting Associate Executive Director of Field Operations.
Tinsworth lives in Rockville, Maryland with is wife, Bonnie.
